Holiday Sparkle

Personally, I love the holidays because it's the time of year when the temperature drops, people put up their lights, and everything seems very warm and cozy. I love incorporating metallics and sparkles into my holiday makeup and beauty routines because they really evoke the spirit of the season. They add a festive touch to any outfit. Here are a few ideas to get you into the holiday spirit.

Holiday makeup

Glitter nail polish

Blood red nails

Silver nails

Snowflake earrings

I hope these ideas inspire you to get into the festive spirit and I hope all of you enjoy your holiday season!

WWTMRD? (What Would The Man Repeller Do?)

I have this dilemma. There is a cute guy in one of my classes (I cannot even explain how cute he is) and of course, what do I want? His attention. But does that mean I should compromise what I really want to wear? Enter: The Man Repeller.

Leandra Medine (alias: The Man Repeller) has never compromised herself for what men want to see on a woman, rather than what she wants to wear. From the most outragously awesome pair of heels to a pair of beat up overalls, NOTHING scares this woman away. But does she scare men away? Of course. Because it’s pretty impressive to have the guts to wear what Medine has worn and of course boys being boys, don't understand and write her off as "weird". Personally I love her (girl crush alert). Like Medine, I also air-dry my hair, meticulously pick out my clothes, and am social.

Problem: as a twenty-year old college student, I haven't built up the confidence to wear whatever I want. I still really care about what others think about me.

This is where, What Would The Man Repeller Do?, comes into play. It’s the night before school and you're picking out an outfit. Hmm. Do you go with the obnoxiously loud pants and crop top with a blazer or do you just throw on a pair of jeans and a plain shirt and blend into the crowd?

The Man Repeller has taught me that personality triumphs conformity any day. Blending into the crowd is NOT a fashion trend. Bring your A-game every day.

Back to that cute guy in class. Well, I dont think I'm going to compromise my personality to fit what he might want. In other words, I am going to dress how I feel, rather than what he might be looking for. If I start to dress for someone else, we have a problem. I am going to dress to please me. That's what being a fashion girl is all about, right?

In any case if you ever have trouble picking out an outfit, just think WWTMRD. It helps. Trust me.

3 Looks: The Chambray Shirt

The chambray shirt has been around for a little while now, but as summer begins to step in to full swing, so does this piece of clothing. In fact, it almost becomes an essential staple for cooler nights on the beach and breezy afternoons spent shopping. Much lighter than a denim jacket, the material is much more breathable with a flexible feel that allows for as much movement as a simple cardigan or light sweatshirt. But perhaps its best quality is its versatility. You can wear it as a plain top, as a cover up, as a sweater, whichever occasion you need it for. My favorite ways to wear it are below. How do you wear your chambray shirt? Comment and let us know!

Aquarium Inspiration

I visited the aquarium this past weekend and per usual, I snapped dozens of photos with my iPhone. I made a photo collage of all the cool sea critters I saw and was suddenly inspired by all the vibrant colors and lovely textures represented in the ocean. Being a swimmer and an Aquarius, I love all things water-related, but I had never really noticed how much of a presence sea-life has on the shore. Summer fashion is heavily influenced by the natural beauty of sea and ocean-life, so I want to share some ocean-esque pieces.

The Amazing Emma Stone

Emma Stone has been making a splash on the red carpet movie premieres for her new film The Amazing Spider Man. She has worn garments by some of the top fashion designers in the industry and I must say that her red carpet style is on point and very inspiring. So to celebrate the lovely Ms. Stone and her first Vogue magazine cover here are some pics of my favorite looks that she has rocked.

Here Emma is shown at the Paris premiere of the film wearing a gown from the Fall 2012 RTW Gucci collection and Christian Louboutin pumps. This look is very gothic inspired and yet still romantic.

Here she wears an Emilio Pucci dress, also from the Fall 2012 RTW runways, in ice blue. It is obvious that her style is evolving right in front of our eyes. The pairing of a nude heel with the pencil skirt looks great and elongates her legs.

At the London premiere of the movie, Emma wore a pant suit with a plunging neckline from the Fall 2012 RTW collection by Elie Saab. This jumpsuit is mature, youthful and elegant all rolled up into one. She kept her hair and makeup simple and let the pantsuit take the spotlight.

And last but certainly not least, here is a picture of her first Vogue cover which hits stands in July. I can't wait to get my copy in the mail!

I look forward to seeing what Emma chooses to wear for the red carpet circuit of her new film Gangster Squad starring Crazy, Stupid, Love costar Ryan Gosling (*Drool*).
