Fresh, New You

Sometimes, you just have to bring out a new you! If you want to strut out of the house looking chic and fresh, try putting on interesting accessories that give you a “fresh factor.” For example, a Fedora makes your ensemble look recent. Black-rimmed glasses give your face an update. A vintage snake skin clutch bag shows your panache for what’s in-the-now yet from the past. Tone down a shimmery silver pair of jeans by wearing something pink and girly, like a pink tiered top. Lastly, try wearing a funky accessory, like a jewel-encrusted shell necklace. With the right accessories, even the tamest outfit will look brand new!

Wondering what to wear when you’re expected to wear if you’re a celeb the paparazzi are chasing after? Go for something classic yet timeless, like a black dress – then work your way around it. Then, add glam to a black dress by shrugging on a vintage mink stole. To fend off the bright flashbulbs from the paparazzi’s cameras and keep a sliver of anonymity, wear black sunglasses and keep your head down at all times. Keep a classic bag with you at all times, such as a bronze clutch, to cover your face with if the cameras get too close. And always remember that, whether or not you like being photographed, your pictures will be all over the tabloids. So, wear something you won’t be caught dead wearing, such as fab red platform pumps. With this ensemble, you’re ready to go around town like a true-blue celebrity on a night out!

Rebecca Minkoff: It Designer

Although Rebecca Minkoff, the late 20s designer behind the brand by her own name, is revered by the small group of bag-a-holics who have discovered her creations, most women have never even heard of her, even if they've admired her bags in the past.

Just a little history...Minkoff's first bag was designed for an actress friend to carry in a movie. The bag, named the Morning After Bag is the most famous of the Rebecca Minkoff line and has inspired a number of similar designs such as the Morning After Mini (MAM), the Morning After Mini Mini (MAMM), and the Morning After Clutch (MAC)

Featured below, the Morning After Bag line  has a classic-style handbag in a size for all shoppers: the Morning After Mini is 20% smaller than the MAB, and the Morning After Mini is 20% smaller than the MAM (from personal experience, I can tell you that the MAMM actually looks and feels even smaller when you carry it).

Just to look at some additional styles, here is the Devote Tote, a belted hobo that comes with or without studs. I love this bag and have one in gray; it fits so much and has a large number of pockets for organizing accessories.

Next, let's take a look at the Nikki and Mini Nikki, Minkoff's popular hobo-style bags.

And now for the famous Morning After Clutch.

The advertising strategy for this brand was a great one. Minkoff sent samples of her bags to celebrities who spend a lot of time being photographed, using them as free advertising. A number of these celebrities have been seen carrying a variety of different Rebecca Minkoff styles, including Blake Lively, Lauren Conrad, Resse Witherspoon, and Lindsay Lohan. Minkoff's designs have been featured on shows such as "The Hills" and Gossip Girl on a consistent basis as well.

The bags leather bags range from roughly $300 to $600 depending on the style, season, and leather. There is a large resale market on the internet for them as well. Recently, Minkoff's bags were sold at great prices in a NYC Sample Sale, which takes place twice each year. Similar sales will take place in San Francisco and LA, as well as online. In the past Washington D.C. has also played host to one of the fabulous sales as well.
