On December 2nd, at London’s Kings Palace Gallery, a retrospective photo exhibition dedicated to veteran catwalk photographer, Chris Moore, launched, which looks back at 40 years of life on the catwalk.
His career began in the 1950’s, when he was assisting Cecil Beaton and Henry Clarkemain for French Vogue. In 1967, he went off on his own to capture Paris Haute Couture runway shows and later dedicated himself to capturing the growing catwalk circuit which developed soon after. In 1999 he launched his website, www.catwalking.com, which was the UK’s first website dedicated to catwalk photography.
The site is specifically intended for professionals who work within the fashion styling, editorial, and media circles. Catwalking.com has been improving communication between its various professional members for 30 years, and today their regulars consist of twenty clients, some of which include, Harper’s Bazaar UK, Vogue UK, Women’s Wear Daily Japan, The British Fashion Council, Alexander McQueen, and GQ Magazine UK, to name a few.

In the forty three years of Moore’s career, his archive celebrated some of the fashion industry’s most memorable designer fashion shows and models. It is no coincidence that Moore chose to display his work opposite the newly re-located Central St Martin’s College at Kings Palace Gallery in London, placing a special emphasis on the UK as a creative place to study fashion design.
Central Saint Martin’s is the home to some of the industry’s leading fashion graduates like, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Stella McCartney. But can Moore recall his favorite career moment?
“It would be hard to select my favorite show, but Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan have been amongst my favorites over the years" he says.
