Two is Better Than One

These days everyone’s schedules are packed from morning to night. But how are you suppose to carry around all your stuff for your daily activities? Trying to fit everything into one bag just doesn't work. Instead, I find myself carrying multiple bags that mismatch and aren't indicative of my fashionista style. After doing some research, I came across Vogue's solution. Below are four bags that will allow you to carry all your daily stuff as well as look put together and fashionable in the process. Thus tackling both problems.

Eco Fashion

A must read for all fashionistas, Sass Brown’s book Eco Fashion,  tackles the ongoing struggle of environmentally sustainable fashion and ethically produced clothing.  A full- time professor at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she specializes in ethical practices in the fashion industry. She has also completed work with women’s cooperatives in Latin America. Brown has made a myriad of collections spanning from urban clothing for London’s trend conscious teenagers to her own collection of women’s designer sportswear.

Putting all of her expertise together, her new book addresses a very real problem that faces the industry.  The book also goes in-depth in numerous fashion houses and points out individual issues as well as creates solutions for these companies. Brown does this on an individual bases to really create a solution that embodies each company’s culture.

Even though the book points out the industry’s flaws, it also shows industry leaders pushing for change. Advocating for “a huge shift in consumer thinking to change wasteful consumption”(Eco Friendly Fashion).  Brown also mentions the constant battle between quality and quantity and promotes ethical manufacturing processes and ecological awareness.

Brown does a good job pointing out current issues and supporting them with well researched facts. I believe that this book plays an important role in the fashion community and should be read by everyone involved in the industry. Most importantly, the book makes the reader aware about the pressing issues facing the industry and informs the reader about the necessary changes that need to be made. It is wonderfully put together and leaves its audience well informed and eager to contribute to the cause.

Spring’s New Favorite Skirt Length

Maxi dresses

This year’s hottest skirt trend is the maxi. Trade in your mini for a maxi to switch up your Spring looks. Here are ten ways to sport this new trend:

1. Don’t be afraid to be bold and pair a bright top with a black skirt.
2. Soften your style with nude hues.
3. Try a print instead of a solid color.
4. A maxi can be sexy, try a sheer fabric.
5. Instead of color blocking, try a vivid color contrast.
6. Add a feminine touch by adding lace to your look.
7. Maxi’s can be overwhelming, add a belt to define your waist.
8. Denim is in; don’t be afraid to mix in a denim button down.
9. Switch in a pleated skirt for texture.
10. The maxi silhouette leaves a lot of room to accessorize, try adding a statement necklace.
