Prints & Patchwork

Is it just me or are we experiencing some bipolar weather? We seem to be getting warm after cold, cold after warm... But that doesn't stop all you fashionistas out there from displaying your wardrobe! I've been looking at street fashion here in the US and in London, and I can't stop looking at clothing with prints or patchwork!

This simple, clean palette caught my eye immediately. The patchwork is minimal with only a few patches using the same color palette -- blues and purples. And although it doesn't jump out as warm spring colors, the pop of lighter colors on her shirt contrasts nicely with her darker, mellow colored outfit.

I'll admit, even though I'm a simple, block-colored clothing person, these prints make me want to expand my wardrobe...just a little bit. I don't know about you but these prints would make my days so much brighter! Wearing either a body-hugging print dress, or pairing a print blouse and a skirt together, really balances out your feminine attributes. Tone it down with nude shoes, and you're ready to head out the door! Whether you're out for the day or going out at night, pairing a bright print blouse with a pair of jeans and pumps will give you that comfortable and "why are you dressed up" look.

Prints and patchwork have always been around, but have been sported more recently. What are your personal preferences? More prints? Or patchwork?

Ooooh, It's Getting Hot in Here

Helloooooo spring! Is it just me or is this spring just buzzing with warm weather? With everyone racing towards spring break, it's time for all the ladies to whip out the spring dresses! Yes, it's that time again where we can wear dresses without tights or leggings. With weather like this, who doesn't want to wear dresses that not only keep us cool, but flaunts our bodies! This spring's trend is going in the direction of pastel colors, specifically mint colors.

One of my favorite things to wear is sheer blouses. Bright colored sheer blouses are perfect for this season! Match that with a pair of shorts, high waisted skirt or just a pair of jeans, and you're ready to start your day or end your night!

This spring is all about those bright pastel, fluorescent colors. So, let your body breathe, and take in the breeze and warm sun, and wear those bright colors. Ladies, we know that less is more, but this season is the highlight of it! Simple outfits with simple accessories will bring you far. If you're one of those girls who can't or don't know how to wear bright colors, don't fear. Wear what you normally do but add that small pop of color on your outfit that really highlights this season's colors!

Moschino Fall 2012

It's that time of year again, where next season's clothing line gets displayed! Recently Moschino had their Fall 2012 Collection revealed and my oh my, are there some bright, bold colors! One of the things I love about this collection is the fact that the colors just look amazing. These vivid colors make my wardrobe look so dark and gloomy! This collection definitely captures Moschino's ability to vary their clothing line on so many levels. From chic and preppy to fun, ruffled dresses, Moschino definitely knows how to bring a variety of styles to the table.

How cute and chic does this outfit look? It's clear that the Peter Pan collars are an "in style" trend right now, and Moschino brings that on the runway with simple black and gold colors. The balance between the two colors really emphasize not only the simplicity of the outfit, but also the ability to wear it both to work and a night out with the girls!

This is another one of my favorites from the collection. Not only does this hip-hugging, ruffled dress look so good, it also accentuates the body shape and highlights the key features! A+ for this dress.

If you have time, you should definitely check out their collection. And comment below to let me know what you think about it!

Hold My Hair Up

Remember the days when our mothers used to customize our hairbands? I sure do. My mom was a hairband fanatic, and she loved finding new things and buying all sorts of materials for the tailor to make me a brand new hairband. Nowadays, not only do we have the basic hairband for holding our hair up, but we also have bow ties, flowers and embellished hairbands that rest on our head for that extra uummph to our outfit! This trend of cute, fashionable hairbands is global.

Many might know that hairbands are a big thing in Asia, but how many of you know that it's an essential part to a girl's wardrobe when it comes to movies, dramas or music videos? If you like to listen or watch anything Korean, Chinese or Japanese, you probably would have seen some!

Here are two examples of Korean celebrities. The first is a singer named IU, who is very popular in the music industry and is wearing an embellished black and white hairband. And the second is an actress named Ha Ji Won, who has won multiple awards over her career, and is wearing a very large ribbon hairband. Both hairbands show different images -- chic and cutesy. But don't be fooled, there are so many other extremely cute hairbands that make you wonder why they even exist... But still very, very cute.. on certain people.

And what's more popular in the US than Gossip Girl's, Blair Waldorf? For those of us who watch Gossip Girl, we all have to admit how amazing Gossip Girl's style coordinator is, and how much credit he deserves for the time and effort he puts in to show the elegant life of Manhattan's elite.

For those of you that love styling your hair and love giving others that extra second to stare at you, here's a website that sells beautiful hairbands - http://aislingmaher.com/. If these don't fit your style, you can always check your basic local stores, such as Forever21, H&M, Urban Outfitters, to see whether they have any!

Make those heads turn!

Winter Fashion in Seoul, Korea

What many don’t realize is Seoul’s potential to become one of the worlds biggest, most popular fashion capitals. Over the past decade, Seoul’s fashion has been changing and constantly evolving. But what I noticed over the winter break was a particular theme South Koreans have in their street fashion.

This year, the most popular color palette would be dark; neutral colors; varying from blacks, grays and tanned colors. You won’t be able to walk anywhere in Seoul without seeing at least a handful of people wearing those colors. What surprises people outside of not only Korea, but Asia as well, is how well guys dress. Both men and women in Asia, but particularly Korea, dress extremely well. The reason behind it stems from the idea of “losing face”. But that’s a topic I could talk about for hours and hours, so I’ll stop here.

Blazer Style Slim Wool Jacket, sneakoutfitters.com, $59.95

Both the men and women of South Korea this season are sporting wooly trench coats with oversized wooly scarves. Not only are they staying warm in their outfits but also they’re remaining chic and trendy. As the dark colors of winter are beautifully complemented with lighter tanned colors, it’s no wonder Korea is on its way to being considered as one of the world’s fashion capitals.

If you’d like to shop online for these looks, one of my favorite websites to shop or just look on is www.stylenanda.com. But apart from this website, there are tons and tons of other websites that ship internationally but also carry Korea’s street fashion. Although Korea is still far away from being one of the top fashion capital’s in the world, it’s getting there year by year as the fashion is constantly transforming.
