It's fascinating to reminisce about your childhood and reflect on the music you loved from the 90s era. Aaliyah was the first female artist who introduced me to the world of music. Surprisingly, I was a tomboy as a young girl, so I was intrigued by her belly shirts and the silver boxers she wore under her baggy pants while she danced like a trained professional in her "Are You That Somebody" video. I kept a collection of her albums, because her music was so powerful. It touched me, even as a young girl living in a world lacking maturity and real life experiences. I remember when I first heard of her death, I was in my uncle's living room and the entertainment news channel was on the television. My daddy just knew how much I loved her, and he immediately looked at me and said, "It's gonna be okay, baby." Her spirit was so beautiful and angelic, and I could feel her presence through every incredible music video and every movement of her image glaring from the big screen. I recently sat and watched all of her music videos, and I was so infatuated by her fashion. Her motorcycle tomboy chic look in her "More Than A Woman" video gave me the feeling that I could conquer the world. Her "Rock the Boat" video was indescribably graceful, and the Bohemian styled skirt she wore gave me hope that one day I would work hard enough to deserve a vacation on a tropical island. Aaliyah told me as a kid, that if I didn't succeed at first, then I could get up and "Try Again." From childhood, I've failed and tried again with persistence and tears and thick skin. My dreams will be a reality one day, and I know that my #1 fashion and music idol will grin down on me from the Heavens and say, "I told you so." I love Aaliyah Forever! Truly an Angel!
How extraordinary is her gold top and gold chain accessories with those edgy black leather pants? Perfection! Oh yes her hair is flowing and gorgeous. Plus those gold bangles and earrings must be noted.
Honey, you've never seen anyone rock Tommy quite like this! She was such an original, her fashion was insane. She made tomboys look glamorous.
Only Aaliyah could match a bandana with her lip color and her hair tips.
Speechless. I don't know if it's her flawless bronze skin or if its the most beautifully designed makeup masterpiece I've ever seen in celebrity history.
I never imagined a snake being the sexiest fashion accessory until Aaliyah became my icon.
I absolutely loved Aaliyah's dark side. Her smokey eye, pure red lips, black nails, and jet black hair in this image are to die for. This is how edgy is mixed with elegance to master one look.
Bohemian chic! Love it. Love her. Isn't the Bahamas scenery incredible?
This was literally the most gorgeous ponytail hairstyle ever. Her eye shadow is fascinating!
Aaliyah was so motorcycle chic...literally!
I love you, Aaliyah. You're in my heart forever. Rest in Peace. Iconic angel.
