Break a Leg...in Style!

This season, legwear is making a major statement. And it makes sense because we all want to keep our legs warm (but still stylish) during these cooler months. Below, I compiled a list of some of the most head-turning legwear trends this fall and winter. Don't you want to steal a second glance? ;)

Peek-a-boo socks

Because some of us are still experiencing warm days.

Peek a boo socks

Sticking to neutral colors, Tigerlilly from Fashion Rush, stays simple but trendy.

Knee-highs

With the temperature slowly transitioning from hot to cold, knee high socks are the perfect in-between accessory to keep you warm on those chilly nights but not too warm on the hotter days.

Daily Dose of Dana

Dana, from Daily Dose of Dana, pairs a bright sheer top with basic denim shorts and neutral knee-high socks for a cute and fun school-day look!

Socks livin' in my boots

This cute and simple trend works with bare legs and jeans!

Knee length socks

Veronika, at Tick Tock Vintage, stays warm and trendy even in shorts! Follow her lead by pairing a cozy knit sweater with denim shorts and tall boots. Don't forget the knee-high socks!

Legwarmers

For a dressier look, do like fashion blogger above and pair your legwarmers with a skirt and sweater.

Lace tights

A second legwear alternative on neutral weather days is a pair of lacy tights.

Taryn, at Visual Fashion Journal, pairs her lace tights with tall boots for a more conservative look. The basic pieces in fun fall colors make this look totally wearable for any day out.

White tights

Tiffany, over on Naked in Front Of The Crowd, perfectly combines a floral dress with white lace tights and brown booties for a date-night look. The cardigan and pearls take this look from day to night.

Colorful tights

Colorful tights make a statement no matter how you wear them.

Steffy, over at Steffys Pros and Cons, creates the perfect contrast with dark orange tights peeking under a black and white outfit.

Classic black tights

Whether opaque or sheer, black tights take any look from nice to chic.

Juley, at Swank Heights, transforms this simple look into super chic with black tights and booties.

Remember, keep your legs warm and exciting this season! Have fun and take risks!

Fallin' for Leather

Do you own a pair of leather (or pleather) skinnies? If you don't, you'll want to by the time you're done reading! Leather pants (and shorts and skirts and jackets) have been in for a couple of years now, and this fall and winter season is no exception! With a pair of leather pants, you can transform a simple outfit into an edgy ensemble. And it can be equally casual or not.

Miley Cyrus

First off, let's take a look at celebrities' lead in this fashion trend. Rockstar Miley Cyrus pairs leather leggings with a casual cardigan and strappy heels creating the perfect chill, but still a rockstar look.

Pretty in pink and leather

Above, this fashionista makes a statement by adding a pop of bright color to an all-black look. She plays up the edginess of the leather pants by adding a studded belt and cuff and stacking up an assortment of bracelets on her other hand.

Plaid and leather pants

A plaid top and lace-up booties will give you the perfect fall fierce outfit.

Leather jacket

For a night out, pair your leather skinnies with a sequined top. A leather jacket pulls the contrasting look together.

Victoria Beckham in leather pants

Victoria Beckham creates a chic, but simple look with a white tee and slim blazer.

Leather pants

Fashion blogger Marianna stays laid-back with a cozy, gray sweatshirt. A gold watch and black booties kick the look up a notch.

Leather pants

Kicking it up even more, the fashion blogger above adds a white collared shirt underneath and a gold statement necklace on top.

If you have a pair of leather skinnies in your closet but never knew how to wear them, like me, just remember to keep it simple. Leather pants are a statement piece alone, so simple tops and complementing accessories will do the trick. You'll be edgy and chic, and ready to run out the door, in no time!

Fall Wish List

Though the temperatures here in Texas still feel like summer, I am dreaming of crisp, fall days. I am more than ready for black, sheer tights with every outfit of the day. I am ready to hug my long-sleeve t-shirts. And I am ready to tuck my skinny jeans into my boots. While dreaming of fall leaves in every color, I put together my wish list for this season. Mostly basics, but they are everything that makes fall feel like fall.

Fall wish list

1. A basic t-shirt dress that I can wear everyday. So comfortable, yet can be dressed up or down, chic or edgy. What's better than that?

2. A skinny, black leather jacket. Toughens up any look and keeps you warm for those chillier nights.

3. A yellow jacket. A peacoat would be nice, but really any yellow piece of outerwear would do. The perfect fall pop of color.

4. A poncho. Don't feel like wearing anything in your closet? Throw on a poncho and bask in the comfort all day.

5. Black skinnies. Go with anything and everything. Classy or edgy, it's up to you.

6. Flat oxfords in a neutral color. Because comfort and style can go hand in hand.

7. A camel brown jacket. Because nothing says fall more than a matching brown jacket and boots (or heels).

8. A satchel. On trend and perfect for all my schoolbooks!

9. Circle scarves in every color and pattern. For those otherwise dull outfits.

Now that you know what I'm dreaming about, what's on your fall wish list?

Taking Floral into Fall

Who says you can't wear floral in the fall? Well, fashion is about breaking rules, right? So, don't put those floral sundresses and skirts away just yet! With a quick exchange of accessories, you can make use of ALL your clothes year-round!

1. Add brown accessories. Brown, the classic fall color, will take a spring look into the cooler season.

Lesson: You can make use of the clothes you invested in for the spring and summer year-round by just wearing it with your fall favorites. Don't be afraid to set a new trend. After all, that's how all trends are set in the first place.

Interview à la Mode

If you think dressing for a job interview is tough, try dressing for a fashion job interview! The stakes are 10 times higher because now your outfit of choice is as equally important as the credentials you bring to the table. But, follow the dos and don'ts below, don't be shy to give a sneak peek into your personal style, and your creativity will shine right through. In fashion, your outfit accentuates your impressive resume!

Devil Wears Prada

For the first interview, stick to timeless classics. Whether you choose to play with color or one of the season's hottest trends, do it with your accessories.

Make sure to carry a large bag that will fit a water bottle, a folder, notebook, and extra shoes. But stow the bag in your car during your actual interview. Water will replenish you after the intensity, a folder and a notebook serve for paperwork and notes, and a comfier pair of shoes for the ride home (or wherever you're headed next!)

What you should carry with you into the interview is a professional portfolio case. Keep a crisp cover letter, resume, and references in here. (Technical tip: Print all your paperwork on white card-stock!)

Unless you can walk comfortably in those sky-high stilettos, opt for a pair of sensible heels. The thicker the heel, the more comfortable! You don't want to tour the building with an exhausted look on your face! This will completely tear down your spirits.

No logos. Absolutely no logos. Although trendy, wearing another company's logo will not fare well with the company you are trying to score a job with.

Don't cover your head or face. Yes, hats and scarves are stylish, but save them for after you score the job. A bare head is much more professional.

No evening wear or anything costume-y. Fashion is wild, but this is still an interview. Make sure to leave your sunglasses in the car.

At the same time, nothing too casual. Again, this is still an interview. A collared button-up shirt adds the perfect amount of professionalism to a trendier skirt.

Cover your shoulders. Even in Fashion, bare shoulders to an interview is a no-no and a prime example of being too casual. Throw a blazer on over any sleeveless tops. You can never go wrong with a blazer.

As with all interviews, do you best to keep your hair out of your face. You always want to present a neat image of yourself. A sleek ponytail or bun are quick and easy hairstyles.

Like the ladies above, looking the part for a job interview doesn't have to be, and shouldn't be, boring. Especially when you're trying to get your foot in the door of that dream fashion job.  So pull out your classics, add some trendy accessories, and show off the rockin' style that got you the interview in the first place!
