Wearing Cardigans in New Ways

Sometimes a cardigan can be the after thought of an outfit. Simply grabbed right as you are going out the door just in case the weather is a little bit colder than expected. This is a sad fact since cardigans come in all different colors and styles, and can be worn all throughout the year. It's time for the cardigan to stop being the second thought and start being the centerpiece of your outfit.

Cardigans are one of the most versatile pieces in anyone’s wardrobe. They can be worn buttoned or unbuttoned, over a top or as the top itself. It takes only a bit of creativity, so try wearing your favorite cardigans in new ways. Wearing cardigans in new ways will make you feel as if you added so many more pieces to your wardrobe. A cardigan backwards will add an interesting detail to your back, while tucking in that cardigan to a skirt is an interesting way to layer.  You could even take an oversized cardigan and turn it into a dress or your favorite cardigan buttoned all the way up can be turned in to your new favorite top.

Just take a little more time to think about the different ways you can wear all your cardigans, and you will be surprised with the amazing outfits produced. Whether you add pearls to make your outfit extra preppy or wear the buttons in the back to add a little surprise, each outfit will add a new life to your cardigans. What is your favorite new way to wear a cardigan?

New Trend: Bows

One of my favorite accessories to wear is a headband.  I just don’t feel right without a large bow or some sort of sparkle on my head.  This love for bows on my head has recently been transformed into a love for bows anywhere.  Recent trends have allowed everyone to wear bows in very different ways than just on a headband.  One such way is to turn your hair in to a bow itself.  It was popularized by Lady Gaga, but can also be done at home.  Whether the bow is done right on top of your head or more subtly in a half-up half-down style, this is an easy way to add some unexpected flair to an outfit.

Another way to introduce bows to your wardrobe is through your clothing.  The dress below features a large bow at the neckline. The bow becomes the focal point of the entire outfit.  When wearing such a large bow it is important to keep the rest of the outfit simple.  Everything the woman is wearing is in black and white, which compliments her Parisian style and prevents her from looking childish.

Another way to introduce bows into your wardrobe is to do so subtly.  If you’re nervous about trying a bold bow, a blouse with a bow print allows you to start small.  The classic silk blouse keeps your outfit sophisticated while still adding a girly touch.

One of the greatest features of bows is that they can be incorporated from head to toe.  Sometimes the highlight of an outfit can be the shoes. With a large bow on your pair of heels, your shoes are sure to be noticed.

A large bow in your hair can be dramatic, while a bow on a pair of flats can be delicate.  Either way bows can add a girly touch to any outfit.  Any ribbon can be turned into a bow will give you a quick and easy way to try this trend out for yourself!
