Viva Art Deco!

Opulence. Originality. In a world where mass-fashion dictators rule with a platinum fist, these concepts seem as foreign as ancient Greek. Individuals no longer exist; only clones. We have been injected with a constant dosage of cookie cutter fashions and we have finally OD'd! You may ask yourself “How did we get here?”Well, here is a bit of fashion history trivia: From the 1600s until the Industrial Revolution, people had their clothing custom-made. Closets didn't even exist because people could only afford a few garments! After the Industrial Revolution, paper patterns were created and machines were used to produce mass fashion. Then in the 1960s, boutiques cropped up everywhere and introduced fast fashion as we know it today. Although it appears that we missed out on the opportunity to wear custom creations from the fashion gods and goddesses of the past, Spring 2012 promises us a resurgence of opulence with the revival of glamorous Art Deco fashion. Looking for something snazzy and chic to wear to a swanky nightclub? Want to get decked out in full flapper fashion for the premiere of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby? I feel like everything that your saying in this article is so on point. I'm just glad that you gave same brief history as well. For the past couple of years of aiming at having a completely custom made wardrobe. I detest looking like someone else.

I really enjoyed reading your artical. It's really informative to person that has no clue about the history of fashion. I think this will be a good introduction to a runway show. The pictures following the read are amazing they support your artical. Thank you for sharing :)
