Take a Peek: Brassieres Take the Spotlight

The world of fashion evolves day by day, amassing more trends and having more to show as time goes by. One trend in particular boasts of showing a little more skin than others: the peek-a-boo bra.

But all this flesh-flashing begs the question, “How much is too much?” What separates the swanky from the skanky? Where do you draw the line?

Is it alright to flaunt inner wear as outerwear? Already, it is apparent that no amount of discussion will settle this issue. People view fashion differently, allowing the world of trends and styles to supply us with a myriad of colors and cuts, including the exhibitionist-motivated peek-a-boo bra.

A rather noticeable trend on the runway, exposed brassieres are a look exploited by bigwig designers like Hermès this season. The Spring 2010 Line of Hermès used sporty bras to complement their athlete-inspired outfits, bringing out a fierce nonchalance not commonly associated with feminine innerwear.

Celebs waste no time adopting trends. In fact, known for her fashion-forward style and singular approach to dressing up, Ashley Olsen also sported the peeking-bra trend by leaving a few buttons undone.

For Erin Wasson’s collaboration with RVCA in their Spring 2010 collection, ultra-femme lacy see-through lingerie was made to peek through rocker chic ensembles.

Brian Reyes cleverly accentuated colorful bras against plain and minimalist attires, bringing the focus on the innerwear rather than the outer.

Akris uses low-cut suits and dresses to expose a bit of bra while giving the look a more formal touch.

Not a style to be trifled with, a peeking bra requires both form and bravado for it to be given justice. Perhaps this is not a trend you would try, or maybe you’re bolder than most. Either way, don’t forget to do one thing: before you go out to strut your stuff, check that your bra actually fits.

Comments:

I think this trend is not for the weak at heart and is best for flat chested women and not for the full breasted. It might come out as vulgar. When and where you'll be wearing this should also be considered.

The Brian Reyes look was my fave. Makes the lingerie trend look modern and sophisticated
