My hair gets crazy in the heat, but over time, I’ve managed to tame the mess on my head. Here are some tips to keep your locks on lockdown during the summer.
Start by getting a trim. Even if it’s just 1-2 inches, it
will help keep hair healthy through the summer. At the end of August, consider
trimming again to get rid of damage from chlorine, sun, heat, etc.
Even if you don’t have dandruff, I think “Head and
Shoulders” is great for any type of hair. Using this once a week will keep hair
clean and healthy. Otherwise, a clarifying shampoo is great for buildup as well. Pantene Pro-V carries a good clarifying shampoo.
Try to change up your shampoos. I have 3 that I rotate
around (one for color protection, another for thickness, and one for moisture).
This will also reduce buildup. I love the Organix Shampoos (especially the mint one!)

Use a small amount of conditioner for the ends of your hair,
and afterwards, towel-dry locks lightly.
My favorite product, called BioSilk, is great to use at the
ends of hair before blow-drying. It really makes your hair feel like silk and
it’s worth the price.
Tip: Always try to wash hair after being in a chlorine-filled pool to reduce damage.
The best spray for post-ocean hair is Bumble and Bumble Surf
Spray, to keep the wavy beach look.

To create your own beach look, wait until your hair is
mostly dry, put it in either 1 or 2 french braids, spray all over with Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, and wait 4-5
hours. (My best advice is to sleep in the braids for an optimal outcome.) Take
out braids and comb out waves with fingers and lightly respray.

Have fun!
