Being a young mom to a one-year-old is tough, especially when it's a fashionista mom. There's spit-up, food, and snot that always seems to end up on clothes. Here are a couple of clothing suggestions for those who don't want to lose their flair but still need to be kid-friendly.
Skinny jeans and jeggings are my go-to staples. I can wear these fall, winter, and spring. Currently, the best fitting jeggings I've found are these from Aeropostale. The only bad part about them is that I haven't been able to find them in a petite size. The ones I have, have to be scrunched up or folded about two to three inches, but I love them anyway!
Super Dark Wash Jegging, aeropostale.com, $23.25 (sale)
Next on my "must have" list are basic tops. Yes, I know. Boring. But they provide a great base for the glamour that you're about to put on! I own a variety of darker colors because these manage to hide stains. Low contrast patterned pieces also provide great coverage for when your little angel spits up milk.
Longline V-Neck Tee, forever21.com, $4.80
Jackets are great to spice up an outfit. I wear basic sweaters underneath and military jackets to finish the base look.
Mango Military Short Jacket, asos.com, $134
Shoes. I love shoes. I used to wear tons of sky-high heels. Now with a one-year-old and a casual dress job, I tend to stick to flats. Choose flats that have a little sparkle, bows, or other types of frills. On the weekends I tend to stick with wedge heels. These booties are both comfortable, stylish, and don't make me fall when chasing an energetic toddler.
Miu Miu Silver Glitter Bow Detail Flats, bluefly.com, $500
Madden Girl Women's Elsiie, shoes.com, $59
Accessories will finish your look. One option is a statement necklace. The piece should be glam enough to balance the basic outfit yet strong enough to withstand pulling from a child.
Island Flair Necklace, forever21.com, $9.80
Scarves can be both durable and washable while still a fabulous piece. There are a ton of colors, patterns, and styles. I love bold, patterned scarves. No matter what I'm wearing, scarves will tie everything together.
Scarf, hm.com, £6.99
Finally, some big sunglasses. Need I say more?
Sunglasses, hm.com, £4.99
