Those who have frequented Anthropologie are the ones most likely to be familiar with Leifsdottir, then followed by women who have stumbled across various styles of this brand at high-end department stores such as Nordstrom or Bloomingdales. In addition to these locations, Leifsdottir would at times turn up in the rare high-end boutique whose shoppers have decided to invest in some of their pieces.
So what exactly is Leifsdottir? According to the philosophy published on their new website, "Leifsdottir is a young designer collection by Finland native Johanna Uursjarvi...Leifsdottir expresses its appreciation for the past by using antique-inspired buttons and trims, in addition to old-world tailoring techniques and fabrics. Juxtaposing this are artistic, modern twists like abstract photographic prints, unexpected color combinations, and uniquely draped silhouettes and proportions. This aesthetic tension results in timeless wardrobe keepsakes that appear to be made, rather than manufactured."
Lovers of Anthropologie would agree that this is the essence of the Anthropologie items loved most by shoppers...everything seems so unique and is so well made, you're not likely to find another piece exactly like it anytime in the near future.
Be warned that Leifsdottir pieces are rather pricey. You'll be hard-pressed to find a single item under $150 on their website. In the past, I've waited for good deals on these pieces from the Anthropologie website. Despite this high price point, let's take a look at some of their unique and feminine pieces.
Silk Road Blouse:
This elegant blouse is made of delicate silk and is available in both powder blue and white. The ruffles make this blouse feminine enough to wear alone, but there is no reason why it couldn't be stuck under a blazer for work. Its available for $228.

Origami Cardigan:
If I could pick any piece on the Leifsdottir site right now, it would definitely be the Origami Cardigan. This cotton cardigan is trimmed with silk ruffles for a unique take on an entirely classic style. Unlike might cardigans, this one creates your entire outfit, rather than complimenting it. It's available in sea green with red trim or in yellow with black trim for $248.

Paper Lantern Dress:
Perhaps my favorite section on Leifsdottir's site is the dress section. Although not quite practical for everyday use, these dresses are stunning. Since it comes in two colors, let's look at the Paper Lantern Dress. This dress has two unique colors and is made of silk and cotton. The wide pockets help to create an hourglass look, making this dress ideal for any dressy event you might have this spring and summer. Available for $288. The image of the second dress is of the back to show the strap details.

Hopefully this gives you a starting point to look at when you visit Leifsdottir at www.Leifsdottir.com, but no review could truly do these designs enough justice. Take the time to go through the website yourself and you're sure to be impressed!
