While everyone is getting excited for Thanksgiving this year, I’m getting excited for Black Friday. Turkey and mashed potatoes are good and all, but $5 fashion finds trump pumpkin pie in my book. Every year, the sales start earlier and earlier, with many stores this year opening at 8pm on Thursday night.
A lot of people go out on Black Friday to buy electronics like televisions, cameras, and iPods, but the fashion and beauty items on sale are just as exciting and the savings can really add up depending on how much you buy.
My all-time favorite place to shop for clothes on Black Friday is H&M. Fortunately, an H&M just opened in Miami a couple of weeks ago, and I have the chance to catch all of their Black Friday sales! In previous years, H&M has given out gift cards to be used on Black Friday only to the first 100 customers. These cards ranged from $10-$100. It was definitely worth waiting in line for these! With ten dollars last year, I bought two dresses. This year, H&M is advertising $5 sweaters, $5 dresses, $15 outerwear, $10 pants, and other awesome deals! They are also doing a scratch-off giveaway valued up to $300 for the first 100 customers. It’s definitely worth the wait in line! See the H&M Black Friday ad here.
This adorable dress, right now $12.95, will be $5 on Friday.

Beauty products are also worth looking into this Black Friday, especially at stores like Bath and Body Works and Victoria’s Secret, which always have a treat for customers. Both stores usually offer a free or reduced purchase tote full of goodies with a minimum purchase. This year, Victoria’s Secret is offering a free tote with surprise products inside with any $65 purchase, and Bath and Body Works is offering a VIP tote with 7 products for only $20 with a $40 purchase.
You can barely make out in the picture what the products are, but I see a Noir Tease body splash, I believe!
Old Navy is also having their annual Black Friday Sale featuring $15 jeans, $5 fleece zip-ups, $19 coats and more. It is always worthwhile to check out Target and Wal*Mart sales for basics like pajamas, comfy socks, gloves and hats! Keep in mind, however, that some of the "deals" on Black Friday are not as good as they seem, and there may be better deals later on in the holiday season. Black Friday can be very economical and very fun, but you have to be smart about it and separate the can't-miss deals from the buy-it-just-because-it's-black-friday deals!
Have a happy Thanksgiving and give thanks for all the Black Friday deals awaiting you after Thursday’s dinner!
