I can shamelessly say I've had my ups and downs with fashion. I remember in high school thinking I would be "unique" by layering striped shirts together with a striped skirt and leg warmers (Yup...) After growing up and learning a few tips from friends and family, I'd like to pass down the 15 BEST fashion tips I've ever received:
1. When in doubt, you can't go wrong with black (except for at a wedding)
2. If you don't feel 100% comfortable wearing something, DON'T.
3. Cropped pants tend to make your body look "cropped".
4. Tide-to-Go - Best things ever created to throw in your purse!
5. Don't buy something in a size too small with the intent of losing weight. You will most likely just keep it in your wardrobe.
6. Don't feel pressured by anyone to wear or buy something you're unsure about.
7. Don't be afraid to ALWAYS play up your features. (I'm not afraid to say I wear a lot of blue to show off my eyes.)
8. Shopping with a trusted friend is always better than shopping alone ("When are you gonna wear that?")
9. When buying something, make sure you can create at least 2 outfits from it using your existing wardrobe.
10. One little black dress.
11. If you find an affordable basic item that fits you (i.e t-shirt, underwear, etc.), buy it in multiple colors.
12. It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed.
13. Iron.
14. Blue and black do go together, (if the blue is navy!)
15. Wear something that's not "you" once in a while.
