Do you feel overwhelmed by fashion recently? It seems like everyone out there, especially in the music industry, is trying to one-up each other in crazy clothes. I think it’s started to affect the general climate of fashion. From Gaga to Rihanna, clothes are becoming as attention grabbing as the music. Lady Gaga seems to have launched her career in part on her crazy fashion. There could be (and I bet are) entire blogs devoted to the thousands of crazy outfits Gaga has worn.
But she’s not the only one. Rihanna did a complete 180 from that sweet girl out of Barbados with long hair, wearing sundresses and jeans. Now her hair is jet black and spiky with clothes to match. Black leather, chains, and studs are now big parts of Rihanna’s fashion statement. Her clothes have also become as architectural as her hairstyles. She seems to want to push the envelope more and more, both with her music and her personal style.
Following Lady Gaga and Rihanna’s example are Shakira and Katy Perry. From a skin tight, black, cutout jumpsuit, to a barely-their flesh toned one. Shakira’s music video for her song “She Wolf” caused quite a stir. The outfit on the single’s cover is outrageous enough to match.
With Katy Perry’s recent single “California Gurls,” one can really see the extent of the pop star’s crazy fashion. From bright wigs to clothes made to look like candy, there is no lack for technicolor sequins. Check out the video if you haven’t already!
