Kate Beckinsale Dazzles at Any Event

After seeing Kate Beckinsale looking utterly amazing at an L.A. party, I wondered: Is it ever possible for this British beauty to look any less than perfect? At this particular event she is seen in a fabulous purple mini dress from Derek Lam. The dress features a sleek cowl neck which leads down to a uniquely overlapped hem. With perfectly tan, toned legs, I do not believe this dress was meant for anyone else.

In another perfect frock, Kate was seen at The Museum of Contemporary Art’s 30th Anniversary Gala in a stunning green dress. With magnificent draping, the one shoulder design featured black embellishment at the shoulder and belt. Asymmetrical details and shimmering silk finished this beautiful dress. Kate’s always glowing skin and dazzling earrings also did wonders. Unfortunately, Rose McGowan’s gaudy red dress does distract a bit from Kate’s, but she still manages to shine through.

Kate definitely knows how to wear an evening gown, as she was seen at the 2009 Grammy Awards in a body hugging black dazzler by Reem Acra. With elegant princess seams, this strapless gown ends in a beautifully layered mermaid hem. Accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, Kate looked absolutely stunning.

I did, however find one picture of Kate looking not so flattering. In a strange, hippie inspired look, Kate is seen in a shapeless green dress in a sheer fabric. Along with the dress, she wears curly hair that is completely out of control. Though her skin looks tan and flawless as usual, her expression does look a bit dazed. Perhaps she saw a mirror and is trying to figure out what she could have possibly been thinking.

After browsing dozens of photos, I could only locate one fashion error. Compared to some other celebrity blunders, it wasn’t even that bad. I think it is safe to say that Kate Beckinsale knows how to dress.

Nude Shoes

Nude shoes may seem like an easy fashion wear, but the neutral color is a little more complicated to pull off. Here's how to keep the look pulled together:

Neutral shoes

My advice is to choose another neutral color such as black, gray, or white and then another color to wear.

Make sure the other neutral color is only a minor part in the outfit (bracelet, headband, etc.) and keep the rest of the outfit simple too.

My favorite look for these shoes would be paired with jeans, a light pink (or another pastel color) top, and a black necklace or headband.

How to Make Jeans into Shorts/Skirts

Now is the time to take those long jeans that may have shrunk from the wash and turn them into shorts or a cute skirt!

Cut the jeans a little longer that you may think is necessary, and then try them on. Keep cutting a little length off and re-trying until you achieve the desired cut.

Note: If you're feeling uneasy, use the extra fabric from the jeans you cut to practice shredding and bleaching. Then when you feel more comfortable, apply techniques to your shorts.

how to shred jeans

Use a knife to shave away the bottom edges and rub a cheese grater on the thighs to obtain a "shredded" look. Finish the bottoms by quickly rubbing sandpaper up and down and along the frayed parts.

To bleach:

Take a sponge and dip it into bleach. Soak out the sponge and press it quickly over the front and back of your shorts. Work over areas you want to bleach more.

Bleached shorts

Clean Edge:

If you don't want to shred the bottom of your shorts, cut the pants a little longer so you can fold over the fabric. Sew the 1/2 inch over along the ends

Denim

Skirts:

Cut the middle part of the already cut jeans and make a triangle in the front. Take a fun piece of fabric and sew the material to cover the patch up.
